Office space.

A few months ago, I wrote a post about wanting to do something with the hallway closet {or so I thought I did. I can't find it to save my life}.

And although it was suppose to be a weekend project, it took a little longer than that, but I am SO happy to say, that we are done with it!!!

I am so happy that I stuck with my idea and am so happy it looks just as I had envisioned it {this is always a plus}.

Here are some horrid before pictures.

The closet was almost useless with just one, too high to reach, shelf, so I was using it to put dirty laundry in.

There was nothing done inside.
No paint on the walls, the wood floor hadn't been installed in there, etc... It was kind of a mess. Actually, it was a big mess, as you can tell.
The only thing I had going for me was that there was a light already installed in there.

Dirty clothes was just being thrown in there, and because it was such a blah space, it didn't bother me.

But when I got tired of keeping my computer out in the open, where the kids could reach/ break it, I knew I needed to figure out a safe spot for it. Not only that, but I wanted a little space of my own, something pretty, a place to write out bills, write out a card, edit my pictures... What I needed was an office.

But because we have x4 children and only 3 bedrooms in the house, I knew I needed to get creative.

So I decided to turn the hallway closet into my office!

It needed to be functional AND pretty... So I got to work.

The first thing I did was paint the walls.

I found a lot of pretty pictures on Pinterest of fun wallpapering ideas for closet offices, but didn't want to spend the money on such a little space, so I decided to do vertical lines, with gray/ off white paint that I already had.
And although I am horrible at math, I measured everything/ taped everything out, and at the end, it all looked perfect AND symmetrical!!!

I was pretty proud of myself :)

Next, hubby used the existing shelves that were in there and made a desk and shelf for storage.

I wanted it to be as girly as possible, so I had him add the decorative pieces under the shelf.
It also added extra support that was needed.

When that was done, it was time for me to decorate and make the space my own.

I headed to IKEA for some storage solutions and was able to get the magazine/ book holders and the photo boxes all for $22.

If your on a budget, that is the place to go. They don't disappoint.

My mason jar pencil/ whatever holder, hubby whipped out in an evening after I had showed him my inspirational picture {also found on Pinterest}.

We used some old wood and jars we already had, I purchased some thumbtacks that I added for a border and viola!
The entire project cost about $7.

One thing that I felt I splurged on {since we had most everything we needed for this entire project} was this sheepskin rug... And even then, it only cost me $30 at, again, IKEA.

I've wanted one for quite sometime and finally had the perfect spot for it.
It really does feel amazing on the feet.

And whats a pretty office without some flowers, right?

I picked these wild peas on the side of the road the other day and they are just beautiful.
They add the perfect pop of color against all the gray.

Here is an overall picture of the space. It's hard to get the full view since our hallway is very narrow, but you get the idea.

We will most likely end up adding folding doors, just so the kids really stay out of there, but I love being able to walk by and see it. It makes me smile.

Proud that hubby and I took the time to make this space usable.

Here's to another completed project!

    2. Thank you ladies!!!
The color I used is actually Walmart brand, Colorplace, "weathered and worn tin". I have it pretty much through out my entire house and I absolutely love it. It is the perfect neutral.
Another good color from the same brand is "romantic overcast". It's a bit lighter, but still a pretty color :)

  14. Those decorative pieces on top of those shelves are cute. The idea of putting storage jars for keeping pencils and other items in place provides more convenience. Kudos to your lovely makeover!

  15. An educated consumer is Washington DC office space's best customer. In the name Washington DC office space, you will find discussion on a few commercial real estate topics that Washington DC office space are most frequently asked to explain. Unfortunately, not much has been written on the intricacies of Washington DC office space's industry and that leads to missteps by consumers.
